Lake Siog closed
The rain over the weekend washed out many septic systems and as a cause the bacteria count performed on lake Siog (often called Holland Pond) was to high. The Board of Health closed the lake “Until Further Notice.” The little sign at the public beach located on Pond-Bridge-Road went unnoticed. At the time I took the picture shown here, four individuals were swimming at the public beach and only realized that the beach was closed when I told them. They immediately came to shore and voiced their concern about the size of the sign.Peter Frei

Happy Birthday to You!
It seems too early to be thinking about fall, but the truth is the days are already getting shorter. Before we know it that crisp smell will fill the air and the leaves will dazzle us again with an amazing color display that is one of New England’s attractions. It is the time when some of us mistakenly assume that someone left the lights on upstairs at the town hall. The empty parking lot seems to indicate that carelessness by the last one to leave the town hall is costing the taxpayer unnecessarily, as nobody seems to be inside. Who ever thinks that way is wrong, very wrong. Someone is actually still inside, someone who is also celebrating a birthday today; find out who it is, read more»Comments - Edit - Delete

50,000 Page Views!
Time to celebrate.....The Holland Blog went online for the first time at 13:30 hours on Saturday February 14, 2009. Today, at exactly 20:40 hours, the Holland Blog was viewed 50,000 times (page views or hits).
The Holland Blog has on an average day more visitors than the Worcester Telegram has subscriptions in Holland (90), and also more than the Southbridge Evening News (32) has subscriptions. The record so far was 410 viewers on Sunday May 10, 2009. The minimum over the last 45 days was 63 visitors on Saturday June 13, 2009.
The page view count 50,000 originated at IP number 68.1.171.59, which is an IP number signed up with ISP Cox Communications that uses Cable/DSL connections out of Stafford Springs.
I would like to share one of my favorite YouTube videos with the readers of the Holland Blog to celebrate this special occasion:
Elena Lev performing with Hula Hoops in Alegria, Cirque du Soleil. Singers are Francesca Gagnon and Eve Montpetit. What you see, I call PERFECTION!
Thanks to everybody participating on the Holland Blog and thereby improving the quality of life in our community!
